Henry Hudson’s arrival in 1609 was a pivotal moment for local Native Americans. Was it a sign of a coming age of peace or of the End of Days? Is the Hudson truly a “river of destiny” for planet earth? This workshop will help us view our present lives in the light of dreamtime and the Seven Fires Prophecies of the Algonquins. Author Evan Pritchard (Native New Yorkers, Great Floating Bird) will show how local native people at the time of Henry Hudson might have understood these predictions, including a possible doomsday scenario and “The Prophecy of the Eighth Fire,” which describes an age of peace and understanding, marked by the emergence of a new rainbow race. Will the heroes of the light or the demons of the night be victorious? Come and discuss the significance of place and how you see your role in determining earth’s future.
